Gardens: Phinney
I was out for a walk yesterday in the sunshine. To push my lung capacity and cardio resources, I simply climb a Phinney hill and hike down the other side, which forces me to climb back up a spectacular hill to return home. There's no way to avoid it unless I go a very long way out of my way, so up the hill it is. Here are some photos of loveliness I snapped while getting my walk on.

Clues of Spring's Arrival in the Northwest
I think spring truly is here to stay in Seattle. The trees are blooming.
Little bits of color are popping up all over.
Dormant flowering ground covers are spring back to life.
Folded Ear Cat revels in moving her naps outdoors.
The temperature is warm enough for porch sitting.
However, my stone yard squirrel looks rather exposed without his usual covering of Hostas.
He's unused to being on such naked display. Oh, where are those leaves when you need them?

Phinney Photos

Seen: One Ballard Block
Call us shocked but not unappreciative of the unseasonable spring in early February sunshine we have been enjoying in Seattle for the last couple of days. I saw these spring bulbs already blooming several places today.
I found this rock landscape lovely, but they can't fool me. Those rocks were placed by the hands of man. It's not like the ice age ended yesterday and left these rocks randomly strewn about. It just needs to be said - this is some hedge!
One of the perks of walking a neighborhood is enjoying the sidewalk-scapes created by neighbors just to make the street prettier and more interesting for passersby.
I love this form of gardening for the neighbors. Perhaps, as gardeners do, they ran out of room to plant in their yard, so it has spilled out onto the parking strip. I don't mind - it makes walks ever interesting.

Seen: November 3 Edition
I don't need to walk far in my neighborhood before I see something that makes me want to snap it.
Could this stone house be any more move-in ready? Moss on the roof and surrounded by gardens. It's even elevated for the best views.
While it does have charming windows, it doesn't appear to have a door or an elevator, so that might present problems with its habitability.
I do love nice paned windows, so I'm tempted to move right in.
What a lovely tableau with the stones, Asian light and tiny stone animal. Somebody had an artistic eye when creating this garden.
I do love a nice porch, and the gray plays nicely against the accents which are almost purple. It looks like a cottage that could be in a fairy tale, and yet it's just down the street.
The red mailbox that reads Post is a nice finishing detail.
